During the final week of the previous half-term, Year 10 form groups took part in a Prayer Space activity on the theme of Peace.
They were shown pictures where there has been areas of conflict around the world and understanding the need for peace. Students were invited to create an origami style dove and add thoughts or prayers on each dove. They were encouraged to think about why peace matters and then there would be an opportunity for prayer. The origami dove models are currently on display in the Chapel.
This event is part of a rolling programme where Prayer Spaces are a vital part of the spiritual life of The Ellesmere Port Church of England College and these will be take place regularly where students and staff will be encouraged to consider and reflect upon key themes.
Mr Anderson, Chaplain at The Ellesmere Port C of E College noted that, “Peace is much sought after in so many parts of our world and it was fascinating to see how young minds were informed about different areas of conflict in our world and how prayer can make a difference. Students hopefully could see that peace is essential in our school community as well.”
Leah Budworth, a Year 10 Christian Value Representative said: “It was helpful to see how a symbol of peace could be shown through making a dove. It gave me a better perspective of what is happening within our world.”
