Students from Ellesmere Port C of E College and Birches Head Academy were given a musical treat on World Book Day as they attended a spectacular performance by the renowned Hallé Orchestra at Manchester’s prestigious Bridgewater Hall.
The visit was part of the annual Hallé for Youth series, an initiative designed to introduce young people to the magic of live orchestral music. The event, held in one of the UK’s finest concert venues, offered an unforgettable experience for many students, some of whom had never heard a symphony orchestra perform before.
This year’s concert, Are You Sitting Comfortably?, creatively linked to World Book Day by drawing inspiration from literature, including books, plays, and poetry. The performance mesmerised the audience, showcasing how music and storytelling intertwine to create an enchanting experience.
The pupils were captivated from start to finish, with their excitement palpable throughout the concert. Their reactions spoke volumes, summed up perfectly by one student’s enthusiastic exclamation: “Wow!”
Staff members expressed immense pride in their students’ engagement and appreciation of the arts. The Music Department looks forward to organising more enriching experiences that inspire and nurture a love for live music among young people.
