Lest We Forget – Remembrance Commemorations

On Friday 6th October 2019, The Ellesmere Port Church of England College held Remembrance Commemorations for all pupils in the Chatfield Theatre. Our main address was given to Army Padre Paul Van Sittart on the theme of sacrifice and especially those sacrifices made on behalf of serving personnel in our armed forces and their families.

The music group performed their own composition suited to the occasion. Catherine Leigh-House (8STA) read a prayer and the Bible reading was given by Aimee Henderson (9JSM).

She commented, “Remembrance is always a special time for me. My great-grandfather fought in World War I, so to remember his sacrifice means so much.”

Josh Southall (11MLO) read the famous poem ‘Exposure’, a moving piece about life in the trenches during World War I. Our Head Boy, Abdellah Mekhalfia gave us the exhortation.
