Ellesmere Port College awarded Green Flag Eco-Schools Award

The Ellesmere Port C of E College have officially been awarded a Green Flag Award by Eco Schools.

Eco-Schools has been empowering young people to drive change and improve their environmental awareness, in order to achieve the international Eco-Schools Green Flag Award.

Eco-Schools Green Flag develops pupils’ skills, raises environmental awareness and improves the school environment. This is a fantastic base line for us to continue to grow and develop.

  • We have already set up an Eco Warrior Team who are supporting with the tasks needed for the Award.
  • An environmental review was completed by Sixth Formers to assess which topics we can develop to become more eco-friendly.
  • Developed a Environmental Action Plan to include our goals and how we aim to achieve them.
  • We ensure these environmental issues are being covered across our Curriculum, in all years, and most subjects.
  • Our three topics include Litter, Waste and Healthy Living.

Litter – promote a litter free school and then do community litter picks around our local area (this will be completed once lock down restrictions ease)

Waste – making recycling easier to do in and around school (we now have paper recycling boxes in every classroom, battery recycling box in F5 and plan on getting more recycling bins in and around school, plus form group competitions will be starting)

Healthy Living – our pastoral team and PSHE curriculum promote healthy living, plus in many of our curriculum classes.
