Christmas Assemblies with guest speaker, Chaplain of Liverpool Football Club

On Thursday 19th December, The Ellesmere Port Church of England College welcomed Bill Bygroves, Chaplain of Liverpool Football Club to be our main speaker at our Christmas Assemblies. He was able to meet the Principal, Cath Green, the CEO of the Frank Field Educational Trust, Tom Quinn and the Reverend Canon Gordon McGuinness and spoke with our Head Boy, Abdellah Mekhalfia and our Head Girl, Agne Mazailova. Mr Bygroves also spoke with some of the Christian Value Representatives who were given some advice by Bill from Matthew 5:16 about letting their light shine through.

During the services, which were attended by all our College community, Pastor Bill shared with us the message of the Stable Christmas – following a three-week Collective Worship series looking at four ways of celebrating Christmas. In addition, Charlotte Bell led our Bible readings.  The music group performed the song ‘How Many Kings?’ and prayers were led by the Reverend McGuinness.

Molly D from 11SMV said: “It was a great Assembly to watch and listen to, really engaging. It made me think about the Christmas message in a different way. It also made me realise how fortunate I am.”

Mr Anderson, the Chaplain added:: “Once again, the College community were as one to support an important Christian festival.  The message that Pastor Bill Bygroves brought about who Jesus really is and God’s love for us as a gift really stood out.”
