During this half term students have been learning about Queen Elizabeth the First and the issues that she faced, ascending to the throne. As part of the learning programme students have undertaken a unit on the battle if the Spanish Armarda, studying the Raid on Cadiz and the ideas of why the Spanish wanted to attack the English.
For recent homework Year 7 History students were tasked with replicating a galleon ship out of recycled materials. They have delivered some outstanding homework and we had a fleet of Spanish and British ships in all sizes. Today we undertook a series of tests on our boats and focused on the journey that the Spanish ships undertook. We tested them in 4 stages of war and battle tactics. Overall ( also very historically accurate) The Spanish were defeated and England with the smaller ships were triumphant. Upon returning back to the classroom students have been tasked with a review of the battle in form of a Spanish or English newspaper report which is to include all of the historical knowledge we have been studying.
Well done Year 7 ! Keep up the Great Work.
