Over four weeks in June, Year 7 students and Mr Anderson, Chaplain at The Ellesmere Port Church of England College participated in a cross-generational project at the Salvation Army Centre.
The project involved asking older citizens from Ellesmere Port about their life experiences and the changes they had noticed through the decades in this area. They also served refreshments and spoke to different people. The purpose of the study was to ascertain how students at the Ellesmere Port Church of England College could support elderly and vulnerable members of the wider community in future.
Mr Anderson commented: āour Year 7 ambassadors were a great credit to the school and many people at the Salvation Army Centre benefited from their willingness to support those in need.”Ā
Laurence Sandman, Corps Secretary at the Salvation Army Centre said: āIām particularly pleased about the positive response the pupils met among the people they interviewed. A great deal of that is also due to the way that the pupils conducted themselves. We are all looking forward to continuing the relationship between the church and the school as well.ā
