COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 12 to 15 years of age

We are writing to inform you that we will soon be offering COVID-19 vaccinations in schools to children aged 12 to 15 years of age. We would like to ask if you wish to give your consent for your child to receive a first dose of the vaccine.

The main purpose of the COVID-19 school age vaccination programme is to provide protection to the children who receive the vaccine and may help to reduce transmission of COVID-19 in the wider population.

This vaccination will be free of charge and our highest priority is making it easy for children to access one dose of the vaccine before the winter.

  • The vaccination programme for your High School, Ellesmere Port CofE College, is scheduled for: Monday 27th September.
  • Your High School, Ellesmere Port CofE College, has a unique code that you will be prompted to input into the system. The code for your school is: CP146742

During the vaccination delivery we will maintain the range of measures we have in place to keep you safe from COVID-19.

Across Cheshire West and Chester schools, the vaccination programme is being delivered by the School Aged Immunisation Service – Starting Well, Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This is the same service that provides the current school based immunisations in your child’s school. In addition to the usual staff, there will be staff from the wider Covid Vaccination Service supporting this programme.

The consent process for the school-aged vaccinations, which was previously paper-based, has recently moved to an electronic process. This means that children and young people are asked to review the information about the Covid vaccine with their parents online, via the link below. We ask that you then complete the consent form online, via the link, to the the E-consent process.

Please see the leaflets your child’s school will have sent with this letter. There are two leaflets, one for parents and one for young people, as well as further information via the links listed at the end of this letter.

If you have any queries, regarding specific clinical concerns, please call 01244 397470 to speak to the School Aged Immunisation Service. They are trained to note down your concerns and will liaise with a clinician to contact you to respond to any issues you may have.

Only children who are aged between 12 years and 15 years old on the day of the vaccination are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination through our programme. Please do not consent to vaccination if your child is NOT aged 12 to 15 on the day of vaccination.

Once we have your consent, your child will be vaccinated at the planned session in their school with their peers. Following vaccination, you will receive an email with the details of the vaccination.

By consenting you will be helping to play your part in reducing the risk of COVID-19 spreading.
